Three-time MVP Jokic suffers a 'gut-wrenching' leg setback.
Triple NBA MVP Jokic sustained a "devastating" knee injury when the Nuggets were defeated 147-123 against the Miami Heat.
The Serbian center was hurt in the latter stages of the opening half during an accidental contact with fellow Nugget Jones.
His teammate came down on the foot of the big man, who instantly fell to the ground grabbing his knee.
The 30-year-old, that is leading the NBA this season in boards and assists, recorded a score of 21 points and eight assists in the contest prior to sustaining the injury.
Jokic will undergo an MRI on the following day to determine the extent of the issue.
"Instantly, Jokic realized there was a problem," commented Denver head coach Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Anyone that suffers an injury, that's difficult, especially a player as important as he is. More information will come tomorrow."
"We'll move on together. Of course, at this moment, I am more concerned about Jokic as a person and the letdown of experiencing something like that."
