The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Chose the Wrong Popular RPG Show Song

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series by the beloved role-playing group, revealed a new opening credits. It features the beloved cast of misfits, misfits, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while teasing at multiple agonizing personal histories for characters including Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening looks amazing. However, I felt that something was lost in the song choice.

This sequence uses "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar composition composed by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second one put out by the production company's record label their music brand. It's a great nostalgic option, and I believe that devotees of the sequel series will appreciate its inclusion.

But for me, The Mighty Nein's opening fails to capture the hype and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by musician the artist, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when cast member the performer added lyrics to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the track was catchy and fun. Back then, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series yet, but this was such an earworm that I kept it on my phone. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you start an episode of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the right notes in my opinion. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of the group, I feel that its mood is a little off.

Of course, the creators has stated that the animated show will have a few changes and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro appears as one of them.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to learn about the personas of the second series, the original episodes are accessible on the audio platform and YouTube.
