Vince Zampella, the mind behind the immensely successful franchise Call of Duty, has tragically died in a car accident in the state of California at the age of 55.

The tragic news was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the development studio that he helped create.

The celebrated industry figure died after his vehicle was involved in a crash and burst into flames on a highway in LA on Sunday, as reported by.
