Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the gravel trap, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the final corner on to the main straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
