Per the United Nations refugee organization, more than 60,000 civilians have fled the city in Sudan of el-Fasher, which was seized by the militia RSF recently.

There have been multiple executions and human rights violations as RSF fighters entered the city after an 18-month siege characterized by famine and sustained attacks.

The movement of those fleeing the conflict towards the town of Tawila, about 80km (50 miles) to the west of el-Fasher, had increased in the recent days, according to United Nations refugee agency representative.

They were telling shocking accounts of abuses, such as sexual violence, and the organization was finding it difficult to find adequate housing and supplies for them.

All children was suffering from malnutrition, she added.

It is estimated that more than 150,000 residents are still unable to leave in el-Fasher, which had been the military's final bastion in the western part of Darfur.

The Rapid Support Forces has denied extensive claims that the killings in el-Fasher are driven by ethnicity and resemble a pattern of the Arab fighters focusing on ethnic minorities.

Nevertheless the RSF has detained one of its members, Abu Lulu, who has been charged with summary executions.

The organization distributed footage depicting the militiaman's apprehension after confirmation that he was behind the killing of numerous civilians close to el-Fasher.

Social media platform has verified that it has banned the channel connected to Lulu. The status remains unclear whether he had managed the profile in his name.

Sudan was entered a domestic fighting in April 2023 after a intense contest for control broke out between its military and the RSF.

This has caused a famine and accusations of mass killing in the Darfur area.

More than 150,000 people have lost their lives in the conflict throughout the country, and about 12 million have left their residences in what the UN has termed the biggest global humanitarian disaster.

The takeover of el-Fasher reinforces the territorial division in the country, with the Rapid Support Forces now in dominance of Sudan's west and much of bordering Kordofan to the southern area, and the army controlling the capital, Khartoum, central and eastern areas along the coastal region.

The two warring rivals had been collaborators - coming to power together in a seizure of power in 2021 - but split over an foreign-endorsed initiative to move towards democratic governance.
