Liverpool's Star Offers Apology to Teammates, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad following the fallout from his public comments.
The Incident
He was omitted from a vital match after making accusations and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has refused to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Team Unity
Jones insisted that the team's response was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also suggested that a player's desire to start is less of an issue. “I understand there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have been impressive in the period after the interview fallout. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, the source has been from a good place,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, getting results and starting to win games.”
