'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the dramatic final moments of Swansea's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear amid the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful strike from distance, and Cameron Burgess promptly slammed home the deflection before charging toward the home end to mark the goal, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

This completed an unbelievable turnaround given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the second half. In the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win earned a fourth-round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's volley from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that far out," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right defensive wing after Orient changed tactics. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the City players who complimented the way his former team attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they always find their target and they know how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're all right and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It requires a strong mentality and focus just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a popular figure across a couple of years at Orient and has rapidly replicated that in his new home. At Orient he reunited with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a spell at lower division the Manchester club, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that development for club and country, shining for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including both legs games against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This marks quite the ride for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, his father, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's only game for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an plastic turf and the arena covering was sealed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he recalls, smiling. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "It was relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I understood I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it got to the point where I believed I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, the drivers, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself a teammate, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to socialize with the lads but I'm hoping to be the next one out of the minibus and on the road. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on public transport after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
