Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
