I Was So Ill Walking Was Impossible When a Man Practically Supported Me to a Restroom.

At the age of nineteenth year, my morning travel meant taking an packed public transport. It remained jammed and was consistently without any seats once I got on.

On one specific day, I was feeling terribly ill when the coach lurched around the bends. I repeatedly told myself to persevere just a little longer until the bus got to my stop, at which point I could make a mad dash for the nearest washroom to vomit.

The bus was approaching the road leading to my stop and it dawned on me I was unable to last. In an instant, it felt as if a curtain fell over me. The world became blank and silent; as if someone cut the sound. I said to myself, “I am about to pass out”.

Luckily I was close to the driver of the bus, allowing me to take a few steps to ask the driver and told the operator to stop, informing him that I was about to be sick. He opened the bus doors and I stumbled out out onto the street.

I was resolved not to vomit before six lanes of traffic, so I forced myself up and endeavored to stumble toward the green space across the road, where I believed it would allow me to secretly conceal myself among some shrubs to vomit. Yet I likely fainted. I was aware of my physical self, yet I was unable to walk or see properly, so I started inching my way to the park.

“Everything alright, love?”

Right then, I got scooped up. I sensed someone holding me and a stranger inquired, “You right, love?” I managed to tell the unknown man that I needed to vomit. Thus, he practically supported my weight over to a close-by structure and put me into the female bathroom. He inquired if I needed him to stay with me but I refused.

A few minutes later, I had recovered to the point of sitting on the toilet and from the other side of the door came him inquire, “Do you need anything, love? Can I get you something?” I could not to stand up at that moment but I did succeed to express my gratitude and after a few more minutes regained the function of my feet. I got myself home and then spent several days recovering from what turned out to be a nasty tummy bug.

I did not see his features – merely his legs and the big container for tools he held – but he helped me, at a moment I was completely helpless.

Frequently, society has a way of making you guarded, hostile, and combative. His act was the type of kindness that reverses that protective shell. He was proof that people’s natural inclination is towards kindness, a trait I cherish in other people.
