Fresh Details Surface Concerning the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the untimely passing of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their residence residence on Sunday.
The Alarm
According to a report referencing a family associate, a practitioner scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the residence. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
When she went into the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had gone with her contacted 911. Following this, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently detained and denied bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family questioned several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
The source also refuted widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's conduct in recent weeks. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes reports of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
As stated by law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
